Variations of Skittles or Nine Pins have been played for centuries, with a ball thrown to knock down an arrangement of pins at the other end of an “alley.” In 17th- to 19th-century America, the game was popular in private homes, often downsized for children, and in taverns, where pins were sometimes as large as modern bowling pins. Ours, based on 18th-century Dutch examples, are handcrafted from hardwood and come with canvas storage bag and complete instructions. 7"h poplar pins, 2 1/2" dia. maple ball. Made in the U.S.A. Ages 6 to adult.
