Click to enlargepadThomas Jefferson owned a table very similar to this one, which, according to a family member, he “habitually used in his chamber…and where his papers were kept.” Made circa 1790 by a mid-Atlantic craftsman and based on English tables that landlords used to file receipts, the table can be seen today in Jefferson’s Book Room at Monticello. Like the original, our handcrafted mahogany reproduction rests on dolphin feet above brass casters. The revolving case has four drawers and four triangular compartments that swing open on hinges, each inlaid with three boxwood letters. Drawer interiors are poplar. 28 1/2"h x 33 1/2" dia.
